Friday, August 28th, around midnight, I and at least fifteen people have seen the same phenomenon that you're talking about.

There were about 20 people for dinner in the park Balanzano (small village near Perugia), next to us were also 10 other people (two families) that they too were finishing dinner. At one point we saw a spherical object in the sky shaped orange. At first this seemed rather say near object, then after about 5 seconds he started to leave, first vertically and rather slowly, then sped up much faster than any plane seen before. The "disco" is becoming a smaller and disappeared in seconds. The whole event lasted about 20 seconds (at least when we realized we) and all without hearing any noise of engine propeller or reactor.

Soon publish a video made with a digital camera from a friend. The two families also next to us had several pictures but do not know how to find them.

I've seen several videos on the sky lanterns. The effect may seem similar, but I doubt that a balloon could reach that speed, and especially the acceleration.

My two other friends also returning to Perugia from Ravenna on 16 August, about eight o'clock in the evening saw the E-45 (the height of Sansepolcro)
saw an object very similar to the one I described except for the fact that it was dark in color (black to be precise). This object has disappeared climbing diagonally and disappearing horizon.
